Hourglass Sweater - Armhole Question

I’m just about ready to add the first sleeve to the body but I’m a little confused by the directions. Here’s where I’m stuck: the directions say, “On the next round, k5, place the next 10 stitches on the just worked on a stitch holder, removing the marker for the end or=f rnd from the middle of these sts, knit to end. Break Yarn.”.

If I put the 10 stitches that I just knit, won’t that include the stitch attached to the yarn? Should I really knit 6 stitches and only place the 10 stitches (before the last on that that I just knit) so that my yarn is in the right place?

Would you check to see if you copied that correctly. I am not understanding those directions either.

Many people have asked about them, and they’re correct. You’re knitting in the round, not flat, so k 5 sts past the beg of round marker and put them and the 5 sts from the end of the round on a holder. Your yarn is on the last st, but then you can just go ahead and continue to the other side where you’ll put another 10 sts on a holder for the other underarm.

Thanks, but if I put the previous 10 stitches on the stitch holder, the stitch with the yarn is going to be on the stitch holder, isn’t it? I have to knit to the end of that round, so I’m confused how to do that if the stitch is already on the holder. What am I missing?

It is, but just treat it as if it’s on the right needle and keep going. (It will be coming from the last st you placed on the holder.)

Yep, but it’s just the same as if it were on your right needle and right before the next stitch you knit off the left needle. Don’t worry about it, patterns have you do stuff like this all the time.

Thanks all - I think I’ve got it!!
