Honest opinions wanted - argosy scarf

Hi,

I’m after some honest opinions about the scarf that I’m knitting. It is the argosy scarf…http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTargosy.html.

I’m using Madil Kid Seta in Navy mixed with Patons Patonyle also in Navy. It’s nice and soft but I’m just not sure if I’m happy with it. I don’t think you can see the stitches very well (combination of the dark colour and the slight fluffiness of the Madil) and am just wondering if it would be better in a lighter colour:shrug:

I really like the pattern but don’t know if I like it enough to keep knitting it in something I’m not 100% happy with and to then knit it again in something lighter (because if I finish it, I’ll probably end up giving it away)

Thanks,
Mel.b

If you are enjoying knitting the pattern, by all means, frog and use a lighter color! That beautiful pattern deserves to be seen and you are doing a great job with the knitting.

Can’t speak for others, but I love the color! The yarn appears to have a slight sheen, which is very pretty and helps to highlight the stitches. It would be a keeper for me.

I love it as it is and think it is just beautiful. Make it and give it away as a gift. Someone would truly treasure it, I know I would.

I think you answered your own question here. Make it in the color you like best so that you are as happy as possible with your work.

I think it looks really beautiful, but also, if you know you won’t be happy with it, then go ahead and re-start it in a different color. If you’re making it for you, then you should be happy with it!

I love it. I saw the scarf and thought it was great. Then I saw the pattern. Sure the details aren’t as crisp but is that a bad thing? I love it! It’s really pretty.

The important thing is that you don’t like it. So I would frog. If you make this one and then another you might hate that scarf by the time it’s done because of the bad memories.

You could give it a couple days and think about it. Perfect excuse to go by more yarn for a different project while this one is on hold! :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel yer pain! I, too, have had this happen to me numerous times:
the “pattern” doesn’t display itself as clearly as the “model” due to my yarn choice…either the yarn was too dark, or too fuzzy, or both.

But, that said…if you had just posted the photo of your scarf…and not posted the comparison photo of the model scarf…I would have JUST ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR SCARF! If fact, I DO LOVE YOUR VERSION!

I think it is splendid. Don’t rip it out. Finish it, and wear it with pride! Or, ‘gift it’ with full confidence!

:cheering: Your work really is excellent! :cheering:

Your scarf is lovely, but if you’re not enjoying it, I say frog it and do something you will like. Knitting is much more fun when you’re really enthusiastic about your work!

I honestly like it the way it is. I’d like it more if it was pink! LOL :blooby:

Hi,

Thanks everyone:hug: I think I may just slowly continue to knit it and not stress to much. I’d still like to do it in another colour, but that doesn’t have to my very next project…I might do it in 6months or so so it feels fresh again.

LOL sugarfunpouch - I think that is one of the reasons I’m not rapt in it. My last two scarves have been pink and there is a really nice pale pink in the Madil Kid Seta yarn, but I thought “I can’t make ANOTHER pink scarf:roflhard:”

Mel.

I think it’s beautiful and intend to start one myself. Thanks for the photo, finish it and give it as a gift.:x:
