Homespun hat and scarf?

I got 3 skeins of Homespun the other day because it was on sale. It’s the beautiful red color, “candy apple”…I think. I really didnt’ have a project in mind for this…but I loved the color…loL.

I’m thinking maybe a hat and scarf set. I don’t like ANY of the patterns on the lion brand website for Homespun hats/scarves. I’d like it to be simple though, but preferably not garter stitch. Hmm, maybe I could do garter on the ends and stock. in the middle? I have no idea really…

If anyone has any suggestions, I need 'em! Or if you have another idea of what I can do with this…

Must work on decreasing stash!!

I’d say go for the scarf and hat. I don’t know much about homespun though(as in the texture, softness, and thickness of it), so I can really say much. I’d just make a hat and scarf with it, and if you have enough left over maybe make a set of matching gloves too?

But whenever it comes down to what to do with it, make the hat and scarf.

I’d make some pillows

I am making a scarf with Homespun right now. I tried it first in a simple basketweave stitch, but because of the yarn texture, the pattern didn’t really show. So I just decided to cast on 17 sts (with size 9 needles) and do seed (moss) stitch. It looks pretty nice. I find the yarn hard to work with, though, and even though I love the softness and texture, I don’t think I’ll ever use it again after this. :XX:

I just do a simple garter stitch with this yarn, usually on a size 13 needle. It just turns out to be an old fashioned scarf…I have done two of these for a friend at work…she loves the homespun!

I just knitted a hat with the homespun yarn…I used this pattern. It turned out great!

I’ve knit a few scarves in homespun (no hats though) in two very easy patterns. One is a sideways one HERE and a HERE. The other was on the lionbrand site, so you have probably seen it. Here are the sideways ones side by side:

Thanks everyone! I  that hat and those scarves!

I forgot to take pictures but I just did garter stitch with size 13 needles…it was very effective and pretty.

I knitted a few scarves with Homespun for Christmas presents. Using size 15 needles, and holding two strands of yarn together, I cast on 12 stitches, then knitted to my desired length in garter stitch, then cast off using sz 17’s. I also added fringe to the ends.

There’s no point in doing any fancy stitching, for, as KayeKnit said, it won’t show.

I only made a hat to go with one of the scarves, but I made armwarmers out of the leftovers to go with one of the other scarves. I really like the hat Danielle did.
