First of all , i don’t think it’s hideous, I kinda like it 
Someone mentioned Rowan’s Biggy Print, i’ve knit with it on 20mm (:shock:) needles! I have a huge sweater and i’m planning a vest. It came out great, the only thing is that it’s more evenly spun, shorter parts of thick and not that thin parts of thin. But it makes a snuggly, warm (though heavy to wear) garment. I think a scarf and a hat should be really great for that. And definitely use bigger needles
