I’m stuck with armhole shaping for Wilma Malcomsons Seaweed Slipover. Can any clever knitter ou there help? TIA
Welcome to the forum!

Stunning fair isle pattern. You can quote a row or two that are causing the problem if you’d like. Please don’t give us more than that as we can’t post large portions of patterns on the forum due to designer copyright.
It’s the armhole shaping instructions that I can’t understand. If anyone has knit this pattern I’d love some advice. TIA
It’s ok to post a row or two of the pattern so that we can help you. That would be a better option than waiting for someone who might have knit the pattern to see and read your post.
There are usually instructions to bind off a certain number of sts at the underarm followed by decreases on succeeding rows to shape the armscye.
This is the bit I’m stuck on …
Armhole Shaping
Setup round frow 26 (20, 20, 5, SJJ: K10 (14, 16, 16, 18) sts and place on hold, k to m, rm, k10 (14, 16, 16, 18) and place last 20 (28, 32, 32, 36) sts just worked on hold, pm, cast on
9 steek sts, pm. k to end, place last 10 (14, 16, 16, 18) sts just worked on hold. pm. cast on 4 steek sts. pm for new beg of round, cast on 5 steel sts. pm. 200 (232, 272, 320, 360)
total sts, not including 18 steek sts
The beginning of the round is now at the left armhole. in the middle of the left sleeve steek, where you will
change colours when indicated in the chart. For the
steek, alternate background and pattern colours unless only one colour is used in a row.
Dec round: Work steek to m. sm, k1. ssk. k to last 3 sts. k2tog, sm.* work steel to m. sm. rep from - to – once more, work 4 steek sts. 2 sts dec on Front and Back:strong text
You have markers on each side at the steeks for the armholes and sts on hold at each armhole (20 sts each side for the smallest size). There are 9sts cast on for the steeks at each armhole in place of the 20 held sts (again this is for the smallest size). On the left armhole the new beginning of round marker is in the ~middle of the steek. On the right armhole there are markers on either side of the steek.
The 2nd photo on this Ravelry page shows the set up.

Work the decreases either side of the front and back. You’ll decrease 2sts each on the front and on the back.
I’m not sure if that was your question but if not just let me know. Which size are you making?
Thank you so much for your help. I’m doing the 2nd size.
You’re welcome. This really is a beautiful vest. Have fun with it and please let us see a photo when you finish.
I’m still stuck! I’ve got 28 sts on a holder, cast on 9 steek sts and knitted to end of round. So where’s the beginning of round?
Setup round frow 20 sts and place on hold, k to m, rm, k10 (14, 16, 16, 18) and place last 28 sts just worked on hold, pm, cast on 9 steek sts, pm. k to end,
place last 14 sts just worked on hold. pm. cast on 4 steek sts. pm for new beg of round, cast on 5 steek sts. pm. 232sts
On the set up round, after you knit to the end “…place the last 14sts just worked on hold, pm, cast on 4 steek sts…” and then place a new beginning of round marker.
Ok I’ll have another try. Thanks for your help and above all, patience ![]()
Delilghted to help. I hope you’re on your way but if you come up against another question, don’t hesitate to come back and ask.
