Hey! Help out a fellow knitter ;) ! How to reduce properly when your V-shape pattern calls for reductions already

I am currently working on a cardigan and I have a problem with subtracting stitches!
The image only shows the back panel, but for the front panel, I will eventually need to subtract stitches to create a V neck, and I will simultaneously need to add stitches to create the sleeves.

Imagine that in one row, I need to:

subtract -1 stitch for v-neck
add + 1 stitch for sleeve

That means at the end of the row, I should end up with the same amount of stitches.

BUT what happens when the row directly begins with “Knit 2 stitches together?”

I can either:

-K2 together, I will reduce only by 1 stitch = but at the end of the row I end up with a +1
-if I reduce by 1 stitch, then as a result I won’t K2 together = but at the end of the row I end up with a +1

Any advice here?

Examples:

Slip 1, Knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 1…end of the row add stitch
Slip 1, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 5…end of the row add stitch

Welcome to KH. What pattern are you using? Is it a raglan? Seeing the pattern would help. If it’s a paid pattern you can post the rows that you need clarified, just a few rows because of copyright. Someone will help.

Don’t overthink this. Just do as the pattern says. Your shaping will be correct.

Welcome!
Don’t confuse parts of the V pattern of yarn over eyelets paired decreases with front shaping. The lace pattern stitches have to be kept as pairs. If you can’t work both, don’t work either one.
