Hello! I’m Ally.
I’ve been knitting for about 2 months now.
I have the knitting and purling down.
But, I have one little issue.
After the cast on and when you start the knit stich how do I not have an extra long string of yarn between the needles?
I’m pretty sure it’s because I pull it after I take the loop off of the needle but I want to be sure
Thank you for the help in advance!
Welcome!
That problem is usually a problem with tension, so don’t pull on the yarn.
Also, it’s more likely to happen when you use a backward-loop cast on. The long tail or knitted cast on is better.
Okie doke. Thank you! I was pretty sure that’s what was going on.

I agree - what you’re describing was a problem that I had when I first started knitting too, and once I stopped pulling the yarn when I slipped my working needle into the stitch, the problem ceased as well.
If that doesn’t help, then post pictures of what’s going on and we’ll see if we can help.

It should help aslong as I remember to not pull. It turned into a bit of a habit.
It works!
Yay! Thank yooouuu XD
