Help with this beautiful knitted flower

I am currently knitting my second petal from this beautiful flower to go onto a hat i’ve knitted for a friend.

I have done exactly as it says but Row 3 creates little holes from the yo, which are strange.

Does anyone have any suggestions for using another method of increasing that doesn’t create a hole?

Does anyone have another knitted flower pattern?

Flower Pattern:
Cast on 12.
Row 1: Slip 1, knit 11.
Row 2: Slip 1, purl 11.
Row 3: Slip1,knit 1, yo
Row 4: Slip 1, purl.
Continue in stockinette, slipping the first stitch on every row. When the petal is 60% of desired length, bind off 2 in each side every other row.

many thanks

Actually just found this one which looks rather adorable.

  1. Petal (Make as many as desired):
    CO 7 stitches.
(This will be the outer edge of the petal.)
    Rows 1, 2 & 4: K all sts.
    Row 3: K1, kf&b, k3, kf&b, k1.
    Row 5: K1, kf&b, k5, kf&b, k1.
    Rows 6-10: K all sts.
    Row 11: [K2tog, k1] to last 2 sts, k1. 7 sts rem.
    Rows 12, 13 & 14: K all sts.
    Row 15: K2tog, sl 1 kwise, k2tog, psso, k2tog. 3 sts rem.
Row 16: Sl 1 kwise, k1, psso, sl st on right needle to left needle, pass last st over this st.
Break yarn, draw yarn through loop and pull tight.

Note: To create a petal with more pointed tip, knit the following set up rows and continue as above.
CO 1 st.
Row A: Kf&b. 2 sts
Row B: Kf&b, m1, kf&b. 5 sts
Row C: Kf&b, k3, kf&b. 7 sts
Cont as above, beg with Row 2.

Ooh update
i’ve just knitted a petal from the second flower pattern and this one was very easy and is so sweet, i shall knit 5 more and see what they look like together.

I would think if the YO in the first pattern is just used to make another stitch and you don’t want a hole, you could use a M1 for that stitch instead.

If you knit into the back of the yarn over on the next row, no hole will form.
