**Help with TGAAA!**

I’m trying to start the squares for this beautiful afghan and it’s all new to me, working with patterns like this and cables. I’m already tripping up with the beginning:

Cast on 48 sts. Work 3 ridges, inc 28 sts evenly acoss last (RS) row-76 sts.

So I understand I cast on 48, but are ridges a certain stitch and is it for 3 sts or 3 rows? How do I include 28 sts evenly across the last row? And do I include the 28 sts with the 3 ridges? I know RS is right side (vs. WS-wrong side) but how can I tell which side is RS and which is WS?

I know this are really newbie questions but I’m wanting to start on these so I can see what I have by Christmas. Also in another pattern is says 1/3 seed? What does that mean?:??

You get ridges when you knit every row, aka garter stitch. So if that’s what you do, knit 6 rows and you’ll have 3 ridges on each side of your work. Since garter is a reversible st, there is no RS/WS to it, and so the pattern is telling you the next row will be the RS; knit it and purl the row after. To inc evenly across you’d do something like k1, kfb all the way across, or k2, m1 all the way across. These are done on the knit row after you have your 3 ridges (first 6 rows).

YOU ROCK!! I was sitting here watching the Bachelorette waiting for someone to answer me!! LOL It makes sense now, and thank you for explaining how to include sts. If I could thank you ten times, I so would!!!

Inc is a knitting term for increase, not include.

And you’re welcome!
