I’m working on this Amber pattern from Rowan, here is a link:
http://lofiland.com/omg/patterns/rowan/amber.pdf
I’d link to Rowan but their site never seems to work for me.
The pattern says to swatch it using the lace pattern in the chart, but I immediately ran into a problem when attempting this.
If you look at the chart, it says (for the first repeat of the diamond pattern):
(rs) k, k, k, p, k2tog, k, k
(ws) p, p2tog, k, p, k, p2tog tbl, p, p
(rs) sl1, k1, psso, p, k, k, k, p, k2tog
So you can see the problem here. There are no increases anywhere, and my gauge swatch immediately got smaller by about half. Where on earth am I supposed to increase?
The only place the pattern addresses increases at all is in a pattern note where it says “When working lace patt from chart, do NOT work an inc unless there are sufficient sts to work the corresponding dec so that the number of sts remains constant.”
I understand what it’s saying, but I still don’t know where to increase. There are no M1s or YOs anywhere.
Maybe I am just lace pattern stupid? The closest I’ve gotten to knitting any lace patterns was the Spiderweb Capelet and I remember it having YOs. Maybe I’m just supposed to know where the increases go? LOL
Help, please? I’m going to search for errata but thought I’d ask here in case it’s right under my nose… People on Ravelry have made it so it must just be me, but I dont’ get it…
Thanks!
