I have this pattern
YRN p1 p3tog p1 YO n k1 continue to end
Followed by a purl row a knit row a purl row
I have knitted to sleeves and it says
Cast off 3 stitches at beginning of next two rows then work 11 Ross red at each end of every alternate row
My query is am I still doing the pattern and adjusting it when stitches decrease of is this knit then purl?
Thanks for any help
What is the name of your pattern and designer?
It really depends on the look of the sleeves whether you continue the pattern rows or change to stockinette (knit one row, purl one row). It will be enormously helpful to know the pattern and source.
It’s sirdar3191 and it’s a matinee coatq. Can I upload a photo?

The picture on the pamphlet shows the pattern going all the way to the shoulder join, but another picture shows the upper arm in stockinette, so I guess it’s knitter’s choice!

Thank you so if i continue with the pattern i have to adjust the numbers myself?
A lot of patterns will expect the knitter to continue a stitch pattern throughout and not give soecific diretion for how the pattern is maintained in a stitch by stitch instruction. I think it would extend patterns to very many pages, especially as each different size would require a seperate row by row instruction. Mostly knitters read the fabric, ount stitchee, and use markers to help maintain thenoattern when there are increases or decreases.
If you need help with this you can give us enough of the pattern to get help, just not all or large sections of the pattern.
The stitch count, the row of pattern stitch and the decrease instruction would help.
I was stuck for days in end with trying to maintain one of my first patterns, I’m glad to say i am much more comfortble with it now, it does get a bit easier with practise.
Don’t hesitate to ask for more help.
