Help with my Debbie Bliss teddy bear pattern!

I am a beginner knitter. I am attempting to muddle through a Debbie Bliss Teddy Bear pattern in the Simply Baby pattern book. I am confused with the following instructions:

BODY
Make 2 pieces, beg at shoulders. With 3mm needles, cast on 22 sts. K 10 rows.

This I have done…no troubles there…

Cont in garter st and inc 1 st at each end of next row and 6 foll 6th rows. 36 sts. K 7 rows.

So…I continue knit stitch and increase 1 stitch…that’s all I get! Do I increase one stitch on each end, on the first and last stitch, for the next 6 rows? What does ‘6 foll 6th rows’ mean?

The 6 following 6th rows means to increase every 6th row until you’ve increased 6 times. That’ll be a total of 7 increase rows (14 new sts) and you’ll end with 36sts.
So if you call the next row, row 1 you’ll increase on rows 1,7,13,19,25,31, and 37.
Remember to increase on [I]each[/I] end. You can make the increase one or two sts in from the ends for a neater edge.
