Help with lace section

Hi, I’m knitting a cardigan with a lace brooch and after I knit row three I end up with 22 stitches instead of 25. Can anyone help? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

Row 3 works out to 25sts.

There are 8sts in the repeat on row 3 before you start the row and 8sts remain after the row:
The k3tog and the sssk each decrease 3sts to one stitch. That’s 4sts dec.
The kbfb increases one stitch to 3sts. That’s 2sts inc.
There are 2 yarn overs. That’s 2 sts inc.
So the increases and decreases balance out.

It may be in the way you’re working kbfb, knitting into the back, then the front and then the back of the stitch? See if you get the numbers above after each increase and decrease.

It totally was the way I was working the kbfb. I was reading it as kfb. Thank you so much for your help!
