Help with knitting pattern to make baby blanket

Hello

I would be very grateful if I could ask for advice, please. I’m overthinking the first line of the pattern. I understand the pattern repeat but I’m not sure that at the end of each repeat of 6, I should end with four knit stitches or three? Thank you!

For Row 13?
k8, [k1 (p2, k3) 6 times p2,k1] repeat from * to ** to last 8sts, k8

Knit 8sts, then begin the repeat.
Knit one, repeat (p2, k3) 6x then purl 2, knit one
The row ends with knit 8sts.

The repeat in parentheses is 5sts repeated 6 times for a total of 30sts. The greater repeat within the brackets is 1+30+ 3 =34sts.
That sequence of 34sts is repeated 5times for a total of 170sts. When you add on the 8sts at the beginning and 8sts at the end the row total 186sts.

In the braketed repeat there is a knit 1 then the 30sts, the 5sts x 6. The braketed repeat should then end with 3sts still to be worked. Is that the 3sts you’re asking about?

Gosh, thank you for explaining. Yes, they are the 3 stitches, I’m asking about.
Thank you for your help. I really appreciate your time.
Regards
Kim

You’re very welcome. It’s a lovely pattern that will make an adorable baby blanket. Have fun with it and please do let us see a photo!

I certainly will send you a photo. My plan is to make a number of baby blankets and give them to the babies at Birmingham Children’s Hospital here in the UK. The cardiac team there, performed open heart surgery on one of my grandsons when he was a few months old. All the staff were great. I owe them.
Thank you again.
