Help with hat pattern?

I’m making this hat:
http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/dizzy/dizzy.html

I’m to the decreases:
Shape Top: * K to 2 sts before the SSK of the rnd below, SSK, k2 tog, yo, k1, rep from * until there are no sts remaining between the (SSK, k2 tog, yo, k1) sections. Next, omit the k1’s after the yo’s until there are only enough sts to work the SSK’s and k2 tog’s. Next, omit the yo’s.

I’m now sitting at 2 stitches before the last round’s SSK. So what does that mean, until there are no stitches remaining between the sections. ? I’m not sure I get it. I think i do, but I’m afraid of screwing it up!

Hiya SBG,
Okee dokee,
They are having you decrease IN pattern.
You are at the 2 sts before the previous rows ssk right? So now you will “ssk, k2tog, yo, k1” then knit to the next 2 sts before the row belows ssk and do the same thing all around. Now, when you have decreased to where you don’t have 2 plain sts before the next ssk below, you are to leave off the “k1” and continue with “ssk, k2tog, yo”. Then you’ll get down to where you don’t have enough sts to complete that so you will then switch to “ssk, k2tog” until you have four sts left. You’ll cut the yarn leaving a long tail and thread the tail through the remaining four stitches (run it through twice always helps to “lock” it) pull it nice n snug n fasten off the end on the inside of the hat so that it doesn’t come undone. Poof!! yer done!!:knitting:
Hope that helps ya!!

That does help, a lot. And I’m glad I asked, because I had it wrong!

Ugh! This hat SUCKS! I’m considering ripping the whole thing apart.

O hun, don’t quit yet, yer almost done!!

I finished it. It looks defective! I gave it to my 4 year old.

I’m sure your child will love it and I bet the next one will go better.
