I’m working on a self-fastening purse…very cute…here’s where I am…I have 24 stitches on needle. Slip first 5 and last 5 on holders, (these 10 stitches are both sides of handle)bind off the center 14. The working yarn is on the first stitch of the first 5…do I join new yarn to bind off? Also, do I join new yarn to work one side of the handle? thanks!
I’d work those 5, put them on the holder, bind off the center with the yarn, and work to the end. Then you can use your yarn on the one side of the handle, and when you’re done, use it for the other side. (If I’m picturing the finishing part of this ccorrectly.)
thanks, ingrid… before i give it a whirl, here’s the instruction for handle:
slip first and last 5 sts to holders. Bind off center 14sts. The first and last 5 will be handle. Work each handle as follows:
row1: K1 p1 k1 p1 k1
row2: P1 k1 p1 k1 p1
repeat both rows til handle measures 16", bind off or slip to holder for 3 needle bind off.
Should I still do what you suggest?
this is one long handle .(eventually it will slip thru a very small handle , thus being self-fastening…
I’d still work the first 5, put it on a holder, bind off the center 14 and then work the other side of the handle. I honestly don’t understand the need to put both sides on holders if you’re going to knit one right away, anyway. :??
thanks, Ingrid…hopefully, this is it for this pattern!! :happydance:
