Help with directions

I am doing the adult Leksak sweater/tunic. I have finished row 11. Then it tells you how many stitches you have on needles which I have correct. I have 4 markers placed before all the increases way back row 1. I haven’t been told to remove markers, in fact for subsequent rows after 11 they are used in the row instructions. So why are they telling me the front has so many stitches, the same with sleeve and back. Like what am I to do with that information. With 4 markers I have 5 sections but it’s telling me stitches in 3 sections. I am not told to remove markers until the section “dividing for sleeves”. Also just noticed that at the bottom of this yoke section it says how many stitches on needle and then it list the front, sleeve & back with stitches but this doesn’t add up to total number of stitches on needle. So what is going on? This is messing with my brain. I must be overthinking. So maybe I just need to plow through and just follow directions and it will all turn out ok. Fingers crossed.

You might feel better to know that i just spent several minutes staring at those numbers which didn’t appear to add up too, so you are not alone.

Worked it out.
Your 5 sections are (im just using small size as example)
Front 11
Sleeve 15
Back 35
Sleeve 15
Front 11
Total 87

Once you take into account there are 2 sleeves and 2 fronts the stitch count works.

I imagine even if the markers haven’t moved or been of great use up to now, having the stitch count reminder placed just before the increase instructions is a good check point.

After your increases you can check you have the correct number in each section again with the later numbers.

Hope this helps.

There are so many patterns where you wish the designer or editor had given you a stitch count somewhere, anywhere. This is a very nice pattern in that the total stitch counts and the individual section counts are frequently given.
It’s good to question directions too rather than spend time making mistakes and ripping out. This is going to be a beautiful sweater and worth the time to understand.
Which size are you making? 1st, 2nd, 3rd..?

You guys are way too smart @Creations. I plugged in the numbers as you described and it does work. And in answer to your question it is the 5th size. I hope I chose the correct size and won’t be too big, though a little too big is better than too small. So I will trudge onward.

Also now I can look at what I’ve knitted and can visualize what part of the sweater it is. Before your explanation it was just knitting. I don’t know how you do it but glad you can!

Oh well, I’m not always right but I try to help if I think I can. I can understand some parts of patterns without making it or having the knitting in front of me because I visualise the knitting (and look at the pattern pic), that’s just how the logic part of my brain works. It’s a limited ability though and there are very many things I can’t do.
Being able to help out here and there is a pleasure.
