Help with crochet dotty cowl

Hello, I have just started the dotty cowl and I am stuck at round 3. I have uploaded a picture of the cowl and instructions. If I understand correctly, I am meant to fold the 2 rows with the first row facing me and slide my hook in the gap made by the V (1st row) and the gap between 2 Vs (2nd row), chain 4 and make a treble and carry on like this. Is this correct ? Many thanks!

I had to search for spV-st as I’ve not encountered it before. It seems to be a spike V stitch. I think it must be worked as in this video except you go back to bor and change color instead of working a row in between. I need to try this out. It’s an interesting stitch.

Thank you for both your explanations. I will keep trying. It is definitely a bit tricky at the start but hopefully it will get easier as I progress with the pattern. Thank you!

Hello, I am almost there now with the cowl. I just have the edges to work on but I am again confused. My pattern says to “work each sc in 2 previous rows, as Space sets have been worked throughout.” Does it mean I need to work 2 row’s bellow? I have tried but it seems a bit strange…
I am attaching a picture of the cowl so far and the explanations from the pattern.
Thank you for your help!

I don’t understand the instructions either and don’t read sideways well. I’d have to save the photo and then rotate it. I looked at projects on Ravelry and it looks to me as if the ones I saw just had an ordinary crochet edging added. Have you checked for helpful hints in projects? If your finish doesn’t look exactly as the pattern photos but you like it, just do what works and makes you happy. A reverse sc/crab stitch might look good.
