help with a Rowan Pattern

Hello salmonmac, I’m in need of your expertise. I am really pleased with what I have achieved so far, thank you so much for helping me through. I am now stuck on this part. Can you help me please? I have no idea where to start with this one…

Neckband

With RS facing and using 31/4mm (US 3) needles, pick up and knit
15 sts from top of left sleeve, 6 sts down left side of front
neck, K across 39 sts on front holder, pick up and knit 6
sts up right side of front neck, and 15 sts from top of right sleeve, then
K across 45 sts on back holder.
126 sts.
Beg with row 2, work in rib as given for back for 9 rows, ending
with RS facing for next row.
Cast off in rib.

Start with the picking up sts at the top of the left sleeve, then continue down the left front. Knit across the held sts. You can either knit directly from the holder using it as the left hand needle or transfer to a knitting needle.
Then continue picking up sts up the right front and across the right sleeve. End by knitting held sts from back of the neck.
Here’s a video for picking up sts in case you need it.

Is it left as it’s facing me or my left as I would wear it?

It’s left as you would wear the sweater. That makes it easier to work across the held sts at front and back. Your working needle is in your right hand.

I just edited my earlier post. It honestly made zero sense and I think was misplaced. Sorry about the confusion.

Fantastic, thank you! It makes sense now, you explain it very well. I get really confused with new projects and everything seems back to front. I am so grateful for your help salmonmac, I couldn’t have got this far without it. I will try and post a pic of the finished project.

I have finally finished :dancer::dancer::dancer:
Ran out of wool and had to wait ages for 1 ball to arrive. Cygnet DK in denim. Going to try it in the fern colour next.
