I am working on a Debbie bliss Essential baby bathrobe and I am stuck,
I have just completed the following:
seed st 31 rows
dec row seed st to 42 k3tog seed st till last 44 st k3tog seed st till end
seed st 13 rows
dec row seed st to 41 p3tog seed st till last 45 st p3tog seed st till end
seed st 13 rows
So I just finished the 13th row, and I am stuck on the next part:
cont in seed st, dec 4 sts as set on next row and 1 foll 14th rows, then work the dec row once more . 137 sts
work 11 rows
So these are my questions…
What does “as set” mean
what does “work” mean
I have 149 stitches now, meaning I have to dec a total of 12.
—How many rows do I do that over?
If on the “14th row” I dec 4, it leaves me with 145 st. and if I “work” the dec row once more, then those 4 take me to 141 st. Leaving 4 more I need to dec. Do I do this 1 st at a time over 4 rows between? Making 6 rows total?
What does “a 1 foll 14th rows” mean?
what does work 11 rows mean, why did they say work this time instead of seed st 11 rows, as they did with the 13 above, do I do my decreases during those 11 rows, or are thos 11 additional rows after I get to 137 stitches?
Any help in interpreting this horribly written directions would be helpful!!
seed st 31 rows
dec row seed st to 42 k3tog seed st till last 44 st k3tog seed st till end
seed st 13 rows
dec row seed st to 41 p3tog seed st till last 45 st p3tog seed st till end
seed st 13 rows
So I just finished the 13th row, and I am stuck on the next part:
cont in seed st, dec 4 sts as set on next row and 1 foll 14th rows, then work the dec row once more . 137 sts
work 11 rows
You’ll work the next row to 40 stitches, k3tog (or purl, depending on what fits), seed st untill last 46, work 3 tog, seed stitch to end.
“as set” means you do it as you did before. It looks like you decrease one stitch sooner for the first dec, and one stitch later for the second one.
Seed for 13 rows, and dec again on the 14th row (that’s the 1 following 14th row). Now I think you’re supposed to work the decrease row again on the next row.
After that seed 11 more rows without any decreases. When a pattern says ‘work’ it means to continue as you have been.
