Help understang a knitting pattern instruction

Hello. My name is Laura and I live in Colorado. I am knitting a hoodie sweater and I don’t understand a pattern instruction regarding the hood. It states “When the hood measures 28 cm, k2tog within the last 6 sts from RS. Repeat k2tog on every fourth row 4 more times.” As I understand the direction, on RS I should knit to last 6 stitches, k2tog then knit remaining 4 stitches. Knit 3 rows and on 4th row (RS) repeat. It seems to me the pattern only decreases on 1 side which would make the hood lopsided. I would so appreciate help understsnding. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum!
What is the name of your pattern and the designer?
It’s bit oddly worded so that I wonder if it means within 6sts of the edge, each edge. It will help to know the pattern you’re using.
You’re correct about the frequency of the decreases, every 4th row.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. It’s entitled Pattern Hoodie by Go handmade. I know its a free pattern on Ravelry. The pattern has confused me a few times but Ive been able to figure it out. This one has me stumped. Hope you’re in a warm place🙂

Laura.

You did well in recognizing that this would be lopsided. In fact the directions are to:
“When the hood measures 28 cm, k2tog within 6 sts on each side from RS.”

The the decrease is symmetric one each side within 6sts of the edge. It’s very easy to miss those little words like each.

Great looking hoodie. Thanks for bringing it to KH and have fun finishing up!
I’m in Maryland and we are frozen solid, slipping and sliding on the snow and ice but having fun despite the cold. Hope you are in a warmer place than I am!

Greetings again from Estes Park CO. They must have corrected that in the pattern. I downloaded the pattern again and I see what you wrote is written. That tiny instruction “each side” is omitted in my pattern, they must have fixed it. I can move forward now and will recheck pattern if I run into another problem. I thank you so sincerely for your time and effort. What a wonderful program. Sending best wishes your way and happy knitting.

Cheers,

Laura

What a vital correction! Good that the pattern has been updated. We’d love to see a photo when you finish.

I requested help on this sweater pattern/project a few weeks ago. Your prompt help was so appreciated, and I was able to finish the hoodie for my daughter. Attached are some photos. Such a wonderful site, thanks so sincerely.
