Still very new to knitting, trying a Cable Hooded Scarf Pattern. It says:
Cast on 72sts
Row 1 (RS): K2,P2, K6, P2, K48, P2, K6, P2, K2
Row 2: K knit sts and P purl sts
Can anyone tell me what row 2 means please??!

Exactly what it says. As you look at the work, if you’re looking at a knit stitch, knit it. If you’re looking at a purl, with its bar across, purl it.
You need to be able to recognize which stitches are knits and which ones are purls. As you are doing them.

I used to have a sample of what the stitches look like, but I guess it’s on my old computer. I’ll make a new one.
For now… every stitch has two sides…the V side is the knit and the bar/bumpy side are the purls. So look at your stitches and if it’s got the bar/bump purl it. If it’s the smooth V then knit it. ![]()
