I have pattern starting with this. it’s not a circular pattern as there’s slit in the back.
10 sts (half back piece), stitch marker, 1 central stitch, stitch marker, 20 sts (sleeve), stitch marker, 1
central stitch, stitch marker, 20 sts (front piece), stitch marker, 1 central stitch, stitch marker, 20 sts
(sleeve), stitch marker, 1 central stitch, stitch marker, 10 sts (half back piece).
and there’s german short rows applied onto the Right shoulder to shape shoulder draping.
short row: 1 edge st, work in k until 7 sts before the first central stitch, turn. SL1, work in p until 1 st
before row´s end, k1
short row: 1 edge st, work in k until 5 sts before the first central stitch, turn. SL1, work in p until 1 st
before row´s end, k1
short row: 1 edge st, work in k until 3 sts before the first central stitch, turn. SL1, work in p until 1 st
before row´s end, k1
short row: 1 edge st, work in k until 1 sts before the first central stitch, turn. SL1, work in p until 1 st
before row´s end, k1
short row: 1 edge st, work in k until your first central stitch, M1B, k1 (central stitch), M1F, k6, turn.
SL1, work in p until 1 st before row´s end, k1
Repeat 5. short row three more times, while on each repeat working 4 sts further past your last slip
stitch before turning your work. You have now worked 8 short rows on the right shoulder, and 4
increases has been worked on each side of the 1st central stitch on your needles.
I am not sure which first central stitch the patterns is talking about… and also which side is right… ( i mean the point of view we are supposed to look)
Is the 1st central stitch meaning the last central stitch before knitting the last half back piece? or the first central stitch literally meaning after the first half back? and I am not getting what the last few sentences are talking about after the german short rows instructions…
Hi, it’s the right side as if you are wearing it, sorry I can’t help with the GSR, these are on my to learn list!
Edited to add, you’ve placed a marker 10 stitches in on the first half back piece, have one stitch and another marker followed by 10 more stitches, the stitch between markers is you center stitch.
I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon
What is the name of the pattern please?
From the way the markers and central sts are set up, the first central st would be between the first half of the back and the left sleeve. Then it seems like the short rows apply to the left shoulder rather than the right!
Im afraid it’s the pattern which hasn’t been released yet
do you mean then I knit all the way cross to half back, right side sleeve, front and left sleeve and turn?
I thought about that too but then wondered if its going to create difference in right and left sleeves later on as you are doing exactly the same for the other sleeve once this short rows are done
It seems like the central sts should have numbers to clarify this point. I was thinking that the first central stitch is here.
10 sts (half back piece), stitch marker, 1 central stitch (1st central stitch), stitch marker, 20 sts (sleeve), stitch marker, 1
central stitch, stitch marker, 20 sts (front piece), stitch marker, 1 central stitch, stitch marker, 20 sts
(sleeve), stitch marker, 1 central stitch, stitch marker, 10 sts (half back piece
The problem is that that puts the short rows on the Left Shoulder. Do the directions for the nominal Left Shoulder help clear up this confusion?
Are you test knitting the pattern?
yes I’m test knitting and got stuck at the first round haha
so the meaning ‘k until 7 Sts before the first central stitch’ is to knit 10 Sts half back, 1central stitch, and knit 7 Sts more and turn?
The designer has sent me the edited version again but the previous one actually mentions as ‘left’ rather than ‘right’ which gave me a bit of confusion
It’s not clear which shoulder is meant or which central stitch. These are problems to raise with the designer who needs to clarify in the pattern. They are the very reason for test knitters and you have been good enough to test this and find confusing directions.
