Help me

Need help with a pattern i have got

Welcome to KH. We’d love to help but need some info please. What pattern do you have? A link to it would be great otherwise the name of the pattern and designer should help us find it. We also need to know what you need help with. If it’s a paid pattern you can share a few lines from it but not a huge chunk because of copyright laws.

Hi thanks for getting back to me, am knitting a baby yoda teddy and have done upto R4a an can’t understand the claw bit please helpIMG_20240705_133537|1200x545

Hello
Where it says “turn” just pretend you are at the end of a row and turn your work around so the wrong side is facing you. Now work the wrong side in purl as it says, then turn back to the right side and so on.
At the end of the claw there is a k4, you will be on the right side of the fabric, next, stay on the right side and start the claw again with the first line, k5 and so on.

Does this help?

Yes i understand thst but don’t understand how u start with 5 on first row but down to 4 on next rows what do u do with the 5 stich please

I can’t read it upside down and can’t figure out how to rotate the image. Is this short rows?

Not sure I could explain correctly so i turn picks around for you GG😊

Thanks for the flipped image. You’re working short rows. When you knit the number of stitches indicated just turn the work and leave the remaining stitches on the needle. For each set of short rows you’ll work fewer stitches than the last set. It’s confusing but once you see how it works I think it will make sense. Follow the instructions as written and it should work out right for you.

This link has an explanation of what short rows are, just scroll down a little to find it.

The first claw starts with 5 sts.
At the end of this claw you work k4 to finish this claw. This is on the right needle, leave those stutches there and start the next claw.
Then you start again with k5 and work those sts for the second claw (looks like 1 of these stutches is a gape between the claws whilst the next 4 are worked with short rows).

Thanks to everyone who got back to me, will try when am home from work
