HELP knitting in the round to dpn

Hello I am knew to this site. I need help. I am knitting in the round a hat from bottom to top. I am almost complete but now need to change to DPNS. How do I go about transfering the stitches from the round knitting needs to the dpns. I just figure it out. Is there a video I can watch or would someone recommend a well illustrated book for beginners.

I do appreciate any help you may offer.

You don’t need to slip the stitches from your circ to the dpns; just start knitting with one of them, then switch to the 2nd, then the 3rd (and 4th if you’re using that many).

So do I start with my working needle on the circular needle. and begin knitting with the cirlcular needle and one empty dpn? Still confused.

You have all your stitches on the circ… pick up an empty dpn and knit with that instead of the other end of your circ. It doesn’t matter what’s on the left needle - think of it as kind of a stitch holder

If you are going to work with 4 DPNs total, knit one-third of the total number of stitches onto a DPN, then start again with the second one, same number of stitches. Check out the videos here if you are still confused as they are very clear.

thank you everyone. I do appreciate the help. I will watch the video once again

This may be easier for you to do than visualize, many things in knitting are like that. Just take your hat on the circ in your left hand, an empty needle in your right and begin knitting.
