Help! Increases

Hi , I’m knitting the skappel Oslo Anny sweater and have hit a but if a hurdle when starting the sleeves. I’m following a colour work chart but it’s asking my to increase every 5th round and I don’t understand how the colour work will align if I’m increasing as it’s worked in sections , please help

You won’t be able to follow the chart precisedly as given. The increases need to be taken into account. What you would like to do is extend the colorwork pattern on each side of the beginning of round marker.
Before and after the beginning of round marker you can work the increase stitch and then on the next round, incorporate it into the pattern established already or use it as the beginning or end of a new repeat of the pattern. You can use the chart to extend the pattern either side of the beginning of round marker.
I know that’s a little vague but it’s like imagining another repeat emerging from either side of the beginning of round marker.

Sorry I’m still a little confused as all the photos I can see look like perfect repeats on the pattern. So it won’t be a perfect repeat on the pattern? As I increase it will expand I to the pattern but not be a full repeat

You may not get to a full repeat depending on the number of sts increased and the number in the repeat. Certainly for the cuff chart, it seems that you won’t get near a full repeat. An alternative is to just use the background color but it’s not as pleasing as the partial repeats.
It’s good that you found a photo of the sleeve seam. I don’t see one.

Thankyou

I would make some copies of the chart and then tape them together, with the increase line drawn in, so I could see how the pattern was going to work. I think it should mirror on either side of the seam. How well it lines up in the photos probably depends on which size the sample was.

Excellent!
I really like ColoCro’s idea of taping copies of the chart to each side with the increase line included.
