This is a photo of me as a baby and the scarf I’m wrapped in belonged to my mum. I’ve since lost it but she use to love this scarf so I’m trying to find a similar one to get her for her birthday although admittedly I know nothing about knitting and am finding it extremely hard to find anything similar! any help in finding similar style patterns or pattern names would be much appreciated thank you!
You might need to browse some motif libraries - or if you’re up to it, sketch out similar motifs on sheets of squared paper then refine them to make them symmetrical etc? Some of them would be easy to chart out then arrange into bands like the original scarf.
The scarf in the photo doesn’t look knitted to me - it looks like a printed fabric with a backing, maybe thin fleece, but the actual patterns could be replicated with knitting.
