Help deciphering a pattern

I’m new to this so here goes. I’m knitting a blanket from Knittingunlimited and it’s called a Pangolin Scales Blanket. I’ve started it and have reached row53 which doesn’t seem to be working out. The pattern reads as follows, all even rows are purl
Row51: p12 yo ssk * k1 k2tog yo k4 k2tog yo p7 yo ssk k4 yo rep from * to last 15sts k1 k2tog yo p12
Row53 : p13 yo * k2sp yo k4 k2tog yo p9 yo ssk k4 yo rep from * to last 16sts k2sp yo p13
Row55 : p14 * yo ssk k3 k2tog yo k1 (p4 yo ssk) twice k4 rep from * to last 15sts yo ssk p13
The way I see it is that if you work row53 it kinda throws you off by 1st as rows 51 and 55 start off with 14sts and ends with 15sts. Am I reading this pattern correctly?

The pattern adds up:
before working Row 51: 14sts (24 in the repeat) 15sts
finishing row 51: 15 14 (24 in the repeat) 15sts

before working Row 53: 13 (24 in the repeat) 16sts
finishing row 53: 14 (24 in the repeat) 15sts

The total number of sts is the same for rows 51,52 and 53. The distribution between the begining and ending sections is different but in all 3 rows, the total is 29sts.

If you work it as written does the stitch pattern reflect the photo of the blanket? Row 53 does stick out from the other rows and makes
you wonder.

I’m not quite sure as the photo is of the blanket when completed and its hard to say. When you knit according to the pattern the tops of the diamonds in the 24 row repeat don’t close correctly. I’m not sure if I’m explaining it properly, sorry. Thanks so much for your speedy reply

You might put in a lifeline and work the pattern as given.

After a few rows, see if things align. There aren’t any project notes on Ravelry to help out.
You could also message the designer

and check up before you go any further. Let us know if you will because it may help someone else and basically, we’re curious.

Thanks, I’ll do that and get back to you once I’ve received a reply. Once again thanks for all your help

Well I feel like a complete idiot, I knitted row 53 with a lifeline and hey presto after knitting a few more rows after it all worked out perfectly. Moral of the story is read the pattern properly before jumping the gun. Sorry if I’ve mislead anyone. Guess you learn by your mistakes. Once again thank you so much for all your help and I can’t express how truly grateful I am that I can ask for your advice at anytime without judgement.

So glad it worked out. Don’t think twice about asking questions or just confirming your own thoughts on a pattern. You’re part of the group now and we’re all learning here.

Thank you so much and I’ll be back with more questions at some point lol. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Oh mabel, I was judging you. I judge that, if you get stuck, asking a question and getting unstuck is the perfect way forward. Far smarter than getting yourself in knots alone.
Ask away, or just talk things through, any time.
