I don’t know what I did wrong but I have sewn the sleeves in my sweater four times and I keep getting too much material left on the body.
Somehow the body armhole seems larger than the sleeve hole. How can that happen? I measured the body over and over when I knit it.
I use the method of sewing body to sleeve where you go under 1 bar on body, under a whole st on sleeve three times then under 2 horizontal bars on the body and under a whole st on sleeve once. then repeat.
I did this before and it worked out perfect on other sweaters, but this one I am going to have tantrum soon. :!!!:
I tried to do 1 bar on the body, under a whole st on sleeve 2 times then under 2 bars on body and I still have too much of the body left.
What else should I try?
I just thought of something. The only thing I did different this time was block the sweater before I put the sleeves in. Maybe the body stretched a little. I have spent the whole afternoon on one sleeve and now I have to take it out again. :wall:
I have decided to take it apart. I have the collar on already. :verysad: Oh, well, that is the life of a knitter. Should I just cut off the collar and then will it unravel from there? I am going to go back to where I start the armhole and measure and triple measure. :wall:
I just measured my whole sweater over and it really stretched. I had 28 st for 10cm and now I have 20sts for 10 cm. I am really disappointed in the wool. I used patons classic wool merino before and did not have a problem. I am going to take the whole sweater apart and start over.
I will take it apart and take a break from it because I am so frustrated. I also need to get some spring cleaning done, yuk. Thank you. When I knit it up again I will measure it often. :grrr:
