Help adding collar to knitted poncho

Hi there,

I am almost finished with lionbrand split collar poncho in homespun and having trouble with directions. I did not have enough “posts” to to post link to pattern but it is easy to find. A little confused at instructions pick up 60 stitches along neck edge. I assume that means 30 on each half of the poncho and where do I cast on the 3 stitches, after picking up the 60? Advise on interpertation of remaining instructions in this pattern would be GREAT! Thanks!

You’re quite right. Pick up 30 sts in each half of the neck opening. I usually divide the neck into quarters to make it easier to pick up the sts (mark the quarters with a safety pin). After you’ve picked up the 60 sts, cast on three more to the needle in your left hand. This extra flap will be sewn into the inside of the neck to make a little overlap of the collar.
It’s a good looking poncho, good luck with the finishing touch!
