I bought a pattern for a scarf… I am a begginer and after purchasing it, I noticed that in microscopic writting it is stated this pattern was for intermediate knitters! I need help deciphering what this pattern wants me to do!
Fist it states cast on 17 sts. Knit 14 rows garter st. This I understand but then below this it says:
NOTE - break of C1, between stripes, carry C2 and C3 loosely up side of work catching in on every alternate row.
What the…?
I understand that the c1, c2 and c3 stands for the different yarns, but I do not know what I am supposed to be doing with it.
Row 15 I also understand, using one strand of C2 and one strand of C3 together knit one row but then further confusing me is the next row…
16th row Knit next st wrapping yarns around both needles once, then around right hand needle once more, repeat… how do you knit like that… oh I am so confused… please help!
NOTE - break of C1, between stripes, carry C2 and C3 loosely up side of work catching in on every alternate row.

I think you meant “break off” C1. That means that you are to cut the contrast color 1 between its uses. It must be quite a ways until it is used again so instead of trying to carrry it along they just have you cut it and rejoin it the next time you need it. To do this just leave a nice tail of each yarn where you have the changes so you can work them in at the end.
“Carry the C2 and C3 loosely up side of work catching in on every alternate row.” I don’t know exactly how you are using these yarns and how many yarns you are using in total. If you are using the C2 and C3 alternately for a ways without other colors it would mean that when you finish a row of C2 to leave that yarn there and begin working with C3. When you come back to next beginning of a row where C2 is hanging, and you are going to continue with C3 just run the strand of C3 under the C2 that is hanging there before you take the first stitch of C3 for that new row. That will catch the C2 in along the edge so that it gets carried along.
Then when you are ready for rows of C2, leave the C3 hanging and do the same thing carrying it along as you come back to it along the edge.
Just remember to run the strand in use under the one hanging each time you come to it to carry it along until you us it again.
Added later: I missed the last part of the question. I also see you have this question on another thread and any other comments I add will be over there.
