Hello!

i know there is a thread…to lazy to look for it… but i have a friend that would like me to knit a shirt for her…but i can’t seem to find a pattern for one. and i was wondering how do you make a pattern?

this is what it looks like…looks easy enough though…any suggestions?

looks like a rectangle to me…make it as long as you want, change colors when you want, then stitch up the sides for the “look”.

Hmm, is that string across the chest a tie, or a seam?

I would make a rectangle shawl shape and put a keyhole opening (basically a huge buttonhole or slit) for the armhole and sew the sides together. You should look on pattern central for shawl patterns, then you can cheat and use their dimensions so you don’t have to guess at how many stitches to cast on.

That’s REALLY cute! You have a lucky friend!

i don’t know what that is…i’ll have to look at the orginal and blow it up.
i thought is was a rectangle too. just sewn together. ok thanks ladies!

:rofling: I looked at the picture before I read the question and my first thought wasf, “Damn, Carmell’s looking good!”

Heellllll, yeah!!

This one is kinda sorta similar, you’d have to make the one sleeve shorter and alter the bottom somehow to make it more triangular.

yeah right! that is not me!

thanks for the link Kristan

This isn’t exactly the same, but it would be a good start. I’ve downloaded this about 4 times planning to make it for my DD.

My vote is for this one to modify. We are voting aren’t we? Love the colors of that. Can’t to see what you come up with.

I just saw this book in the KP catalog I got today, it might have some good ideas for colors and motifs too.

Knitting Out of Africa by Marianne Isager

I’m voting for the long rectangle with a “buttonhole sleeve hole” which would keep the pattern going.
