Hello!

I’m a 60 yo who has been crocheting for 40 of those years and now have that burning desire to knit! A co-worker is trying to teach me, but for some reason I just can’t get it to click:aww: So this morning I decided to google the basics of casting on, knit and purl and lo and behold your videos made it very clear as to what I was doing wrong :happydance: so, it’s back to the videos and needles for the rest of the morning! Thank you for being there for the “all thumbs” group in the world! :woohoo:

Welcome! KH is a great place to be

Better late than never! I started knitting when I was 53 (4 yrs ago).

Welcome to Knitting Help!

Welcome to knitting and to KH. These are a great bunch of folks and love to share their experience. The vids are awesome, too. I have learned so much thanks to KH…:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Amen!

Welcome to KH! And I too didn’t start knitting until late – even though I’ve worked with textiles all my life. (Just a few hours before New Year’s of 2009, and I’m 49.) Always wanted to hand-knit, couldn’t get it to stick, and finally figured it all out, a lot of it with the help from the videos and knitters here at KH.

The great thing about modern knitting is that we don’t have to do it, so it’s all about enjoying the process. As Elizabeth Zimmermann put it, “properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn’t hurt the untroubled spirit either.”

Enjoy!

 Welcome, I’ve been enjoying this group for several weeks and it’s really been a great find for me!
I learned to knit (not very well) nearly 40 yrs ago & have pursued it sporadically ever since. At 62 it’s taking on a life of it’s own.:knitting:
My current reinterest started when I was reading Debbie Macomber’s books about Blossom Street. The idea of knitting striped socks with the yarn making the stripes got me really excited!!! Now to learn that they can be made on 2 needles made the idea sound even better.
The people that post here are so helpful & I know you’re going to enjoy this every bit as much as I have.
(((HUGS))), Verna
PS I haven’t started on socks yet, but I’m gearing up for them.
