Heart Shaped Pillow Pattern Help

For this pattern:

http://www.frugalhaus.com/scripts/pillow.asp

I am confused on:

  1. What to do when divide for humps
  2. How much to decrease to
  3. “Slip sts from holder for opposite side of heart hump. Join yarn at center of heart , on knit side, and knit the first 2 sts tog. Knit across. Purl next row. Knit one more row, purl one more row.
Repeat decreasing rows from * to * above to 7 sts, then bind off as above.
Make another heart side in same manner.”
  4. What holder? It’s not in the pattern tool?

They may have neglected to list the stitch holder, but they want you to work up to the humps and then work each hump one at a time. If you don’t have a big enough holder, you can leave one hump on a spare needle or run a strand of yarn through the stitches.

Once you have one side ‘on hold’ you follow these directions:

On these 17 sts only, knit one row, purl one row.
Start decreasing. *

Next row, K 2 tog, knit across, to last 2 sts, k 2 tog.
Purl next row.

Repeat these last 2 rows until there are 7 sts remaining, ending on the last decrease row of k 2 tog each end. * Bind off on purl side row.

Then you put the other side back on the needles and follow the directions for the second hump.

Oh okay:)

As for this phrase: “On these 17 sts only, knit one row, purl one row.
Start decreasing. *”

For the start decreasing, how much do I decrease down to?

I highlighted the part where it says how far to decrease down to–7 stitches will be left.

okay, just one more question:

is this row: “Next row, K 2 tog, knit across, to last 2 sts, k 2 tog.
Purl next row.”

The decrease row?

Yes, you decrease on the knit row, and then purl the next row. Work these two rows until you have 7 stitches left.
