Hi,
Hope anyone out there can help me with this pattern. I am trying to knit the sleeves of a dipped hem ladies sweater. I have got as far as shaping the top and have 50 stitches on my needle to shape the top it goes as follows :-
cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows (done that)
cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows (done that)
It then says dec 1 st at each end of next 2 rows = 36 sts. sleeve is now 18 inches.
what i cant understand is the sleeve is already 18 inches long before I start decreasing 1 st at each end every 13 ROWS surely this must be a mispelling or it is for someone with VERY long arms.
I can’t find your pattern, can you please link to it? Does this sweater have set in sleeves? In that case you are now shaping the sleeve cap. If it’s for an adult the measurements seem to be right to me.

Sounds like your row gauge is off. You’ll probably need to recalculate, frog back and re-work to that point so the length will be correct.

Hi and thanks for replying. yes it is that pattern you mentioned above. If you think the pattern is alright then as you say my row gauge is off. i have undone it twice so must be going wrong somewhere.
In the end of post #3, RochesterKnitter points out the problem. It’s not dec every 13 rows but every other row. That’ll be a dec at each end of every right side row, 13 times (26 rows total). The 36 sts will be decreased to 10sts at the end.
