Hi guys. I’m having a bit of trouble with thisl pattern. The trouble is when I get to this row:
24th Row. K 1, * K 2 together, K 1, over, repeat from * 6 times, K 2 and increase. P 1 row, K 9 rows, P 1 row.
What I’m not understanding is, when it says over, do I simply yarn over and knit into the stitch? Or do I yarn over and do the next stitch? Does that make any sense? The thing is, if I do as it says and yarn over and knit 2 together, then I don’t seem to come up with the right amount of stitches for the next row. If I yarn over and knit, it seems to come out right for a while, and then when I get further into the pattern, I have a lot of extra stitches. So, I truly don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
It means yarn over, so just wrap the yarn around the needle. That will offset the k2tog and keep the stitch number the same. So after the k1 at the begining you’ll k2tog, k1, yo, k2tog, k1 yo, and so on. Don’t do a knit st between the yo and k2tog.
Yeah I know, the whole over thing totally threw me off at first. But I’m pretty sure that they mean a yarn over. But maybe I’m wrong??? You can tell from the pictures that there’s little eyelets, and I can remember from seeing the blankie that my grandmother had made from this pattern that they’re in there. I even bought the pdf of the booklet that was originally published, hoping to find a stitch explaination in there, but no such luck.
It seems that you produce a yo stitch for every knit two together, so it should be balanced. How many stitches are you supposed to have at the end of the row?
The yo is counted as one stitch and the knit 2tog after it is another.
So bring the yarn forward between the needles and then knit two together
I ended up frogging what I had and started over. When I got to row 24, I marked off each set on a piece of paper. I ended up repeating the pattern 7 times. And I have 25 stitches which I think is what I’m supposed to have. So HOPEFULLY that’ll fix my issues.
