I would like to make a fashionable shawl collar sweater with one of those oversized shawl collars that are seen in high-fashion magazines.
Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing onehere
I am not interested in making the Rockefeller Sweater, I am only interested in making the shawl collar. I would never wear such bulky knits as they would make me look huge, so it would not be worth it for me to buy this book. Instead, I want to make a top-down raglan with a shawl collar similar to the pictures above, especially the Rockefeller Sweater. Could anyone please tell me more about the neckline that I would use and how I would knit a shawl collar sweater that is similar to the Rockefeller Sweater?
I would be adding it to an elongated Glampyre minisweater or perhaps to Cosmicpluto’s top down cardigan.
Thanks to anyone who responds as this has been perplexing me for quite a while now.
Thanks.
Starsky from Knitty is a similar pattern with a shawl collar. I realize that you don’t want to make such a bulky knit, but at least the directions for the collar could give you some idea of where to start. It uses short row shaping to make the collar lie flat.
I just finished DD a jersey based on Starsky. It turned out perfectly and was very easy to follow. And knitted up so quickly.
Will definitely be doing it again - highly recommended.
PS : I think I have seen some corrections for the collar, if you decided to knit it and want them, let me know, I will find them for you.
Knitknitter,
It seems that the corrections have already been added to the pattern. If you print it out, it has the corrections incorporated in it.
Good luck!!
I just bought the twinkles big cit knits book but they don’t have the yarn here. Has anyone used the twinkle handknits soft chunky yarn? It is 100% merino wool and is 9.5sts and 14.5 row=6" on a 15mm needle.
