I was knitting and my Addi circulars and the needle pulled out from the cable. I tried to reattach and it wasn’t going to happen. Tested the other needle and the fit was fine, the needle broke
A couple of cable stitches dropped in this whole process, couldn’t figure out how to simply redo. tink tink tink
I’ve had a cable pull out of the metal once. My DH fixed it with a very careful application of hot glue. Never had a needle break myself, but I’ve heard of small bamboo breaking.
Sorry I was not more descriptive. The end of the cable is grooved, it fits into the end of the needle, and then push and turn. I think there may be a spring in the end of the needle to create a resistance to keep the cable secured inside the needle. Something broke inside the needle, I can no longer secure the cable, the needle won’t hold it.
When I purchased this set of interchangeables, I thought it could potentially replace my fixed circulars. For my money I wonder if I may have been better off purchasing fixed circulars in the sizes required for particular projects. Live and learn, or more appropriately :knitting: and learn.
Ohhh I see. You must have Addi Clicks. I’ve got knitters Pride Dreams and Knitpicks Options NP along with a few other random needles. The only fixed circs I’ve got are sock sizes.
I would contact Addi and see if they’ll replace those cables/circs. They are pretty popular so I would think their customer service is good. If not, don’t give up on interchangeables.
Oh, I see. I don’t have Addi Clicks. I have had a cable come loose from the needle on my KnitPick Harmonies. I used a tiny drop of Gorilla glue to reattach it to the needle. I would definitely check with Customer Service. They might replace it, especially if you haven’t had the needles very long. Tinking back is very frustrating!
They should replace it. I have Sunstrucks from Knit Picks and I’m sure I’ve had them over a year now. One of my size 9s started snagging my yarn. I called them, they sent out a replacement set with no problem. The woman I spoke with wanted to know what was wrong and I described it for her. I think this is info they want to keep track of, the replacement had already been ordered. So yeah, call and see what they tell you.
:whoosh: well, I think that’s enough tinking for now. I will contact them; I should have kept better track, I’m wondering if this is the same needle I’ve been having trouble with all along.
I have a lace tip, size 8, 32" fixed circular that I’m using to complete the project. I believe it was a 40" I was working with previously, I really do like the 40" length for using the Magic Loop technique.
Before you contact Addi directly I would contact the retailer where you bought them (unless you bought them used or from a large retailer). Yarn shops will want to know if there are quality issues with the products they sell, or they may have a way to fix your problem immediately and have the manufacturer send the replacement part to them instead.
Good luck and sorry to hear that you’re having problems with the Addis.
I had a similar problem with my Addi Clicks but it had to do with the cable. I called Scakel and they told me to go to any retailer who carried them and have them give me what i needed from in store stock. I did and was given everything i needed. The company will then send the retailer a new set. Love my Addi Clicks.
The cables pulled out of my KnitPicks interchangeable needles the first time I used them. I was able to superglue them together and it has not happened again.
