Hard Cider by Thea Coleman

I am so thankful to find this forum! Knitting in the time of covid lockdown makes getting help difficult.

Is anyone familiar with the Hard Cider sweater? I am having so much trouble getting this. this is in the row coming off the turtle neck. I am fine on the first row, but "purl to EOR"on short row 1b is confusing to me there are sm in there, so what is the end of the row?. This is in the round and the knitting of Short Row 1a is through the the raglan sleeve set up portion of the knitting. I get to the end of Short row 1a, w&t and then???

Hopefully this will make sense to someone. Thanks

Short Row 1a, (RS): k3, sm, m1R, knit across sleeve to marker, m1L, sm, k3, sm, m1R, k1, w&t next stitch. (3 sts inc’d)
Short Row 1b, (WS): purl to EOR without shaping, sm, m1Lpurlwise, purl across back to marker, m1Rpurlwise, sm, p3,
sm, m1Lpurlwise, purl across sleeve to marker, m1Rpurlwise, sm, p3, sm, m1Lpurlwise, p1, w&t next stitch. (5 sts inc’d)
Short Row 1c, (RS): knit across sleeve and back to EOR without shaping, slipping all markers.

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have an End of Round marker in place? It’s probably the marker at the start of short row 1a.

Oh my gosh, Thank you. I was way overthinking it. Happy Holidays!

Another question about the instructions. I have completed the 2 short rows below. Instructions then say to repeat the 3-row sequence above. Which sequence is she referring to?

Short Row 1a, (RS): k3, sm, m1R, knit across sleeve to marker, m1L, sm, k3, sm, m1R , k1, w&t next stitch. (3 sts inc’d)

Short Row 1b, (WS): purl to EOR without shaping, sm, m1Lpurlwise , purl across back to marker, m1Rpurlwise , sm, p3, sm, m1Lpurlwise , purl across sleeve to marker, m1Rpurlwise , sm, p3, sm, m1Lpurlwise , p1, w&t next stitch. (5 sts inc’d)

Short Row 1c, (RS): knit across sleeve and back to EOR without shaping, slipping all markers.

Short Row 2a, (RS): k3, sm, m1R, knit across sleeve to marker, m1L, sm, k3, sm, m1R , knit to wrapped stitch, work stitch with wrap, k1, w&t next stitch. (3 sts inc’d)

Short Row 2b, (WS): purl to EOR without shaping, sm, m1Lpurlwise , purl across back to marker, m1Rpurlwise , sm, p3, sm, m1Lpurlwise , purl across sleeve to marker, m1Rpurlwise , sm, p3, sm, m1Lpurlwise, purl to wrapped stitch, work stitch with wrap, k1, w&t next stitch. (5 sts inc’d)

Short Row 2c, (RS): knit across sleeve and back to EOR without shaping, slipping all markers.

You have completed 2 short rows so far. Repeat the 3-row Short Row sequence above another 1(1,1,1,1,2)(2,2,2,2) times, working previous stitch with wrap, working 2 stitches further towards center front on each side of front, and working a w&t on the 3 rd stitch past previously wrapped stitch.

Then, repeat Short Row sequence twice more, working previous stitch with wrap, then working 5 stitches further towards center front on each side of front, and working a w&t on the 6 rd stitch past previously wrapped stitch.

It’s interesting the way this is written but the short row sequence to repeat is 2a, 2b and 2c. When you repeat these rows, work 2 more sts after the last wrapped stitch so that the next wrapped stitch is the 3rd stitch.
After these 1 or 2 repeats (depending on size) repeat the sequence 2x more but this time work 5 sts past the last wrapped stitch (wrap stitch 6).
It may help to mark the wrapped stitch with a removable marker or loop of scrap yarn as a reminder.

Thank you Salmonmac.
