Handmaiden Silks

Hiya…

I was wondering if anyone here has knit anything with Fleece Artist’s Handmaiden Lace Silk or Sea Silk. (Handmaiden is a spin-off of FA).

I’ve read that Sea Silk is incredible but it’s really hard to find because the demand is high. The color i want is on super backorder everywhere. :grrr: So my next option is their Lace Silk instead.

What i want to make is This beaded scarf but as an accessory, not for warmth. I was thinking of making it a little narrower and use smaller needles. I’ve never knit with 100% silk before so i’m not too sure how well it drapes, but i’ve seen people describe 100% silk as being “crunchy” and that the Sea Silk isn’t as “crunchy” with a nice drape.

So, i’m concerned that if i go with the 100% Lace Silk it will be kinda stiff. Has anyone here used it or this Sea Silk stuff?

Thanks,
-hh

Oh! PS. i should add that i can’t use any animal fibers for this project as it’s for my aunt and she’s allergic to things and rather fussy about “itchyness”

Not sure if you’ve seen this or not

What a beautiful scarf pattern! I think it will look really pretty.

I’ve wanted to try the seasilk, too

I have seen that exact yarn and it is fabulous! Soft, soft, and has a bit of sheen to her. A lady in our therapy knitting group made it into a Diamond Fantasy shawl. It is amazing yarn. I hope to get me some someday.

Seasilk is a must try. Shiney and oh sooooo soft. Beautiful colors. It smells kindda funny to me, but well worth it. My 2 cents.
