Hello
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with doing this - I found a really pretty pattern that I’d love to try, but have never done Hairpin before. It says it needs a loom, which I’ve looked for on the net, but they seem to be few and far between. I wonder if I could make my own one, but was wondering if other people have any thoughts they could share?

I have done hair pin lace and it isn’t that difficult. At Annie’s Attic there is a tutorial on it and at www.needlepointers.com. You can get help at either place. As for a loom, if there is a JoAnn’s Fabric or a knitting shop nearby you should be able to find one. It seems that hair pin lace is making a comeback. My small local knitting shop carries hair pin lace looms.
Thanks so much! Just found a tutorial both on how to do hairpin lace and how to make my own loom!
Will be trying that out… need to find some florist’s foam that my cat won’t eat now…
Unfortunately, there’s nowhere near me that does the looms - the wilds of Scotland have few knitting shops, although I noticed a new one yesterday, so might have to go have a look dum di dum whistle
Hey Willowangel,
could you pretty please post the links to the hairpin and loom-making tutorials? That would be awesome!
Thanks
yes, a link would be great…
Hey again,
Sorry, been kind of out of it for a couple of days!
Here’s the link - haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, unfortunately.

Will post results once I get 2 seconds to try it
