For the KH Forum April knit-along this month, we’re making hair accessories. So, I chose to start off with a hair scrunchie.
I used some yarn that I spun on my spinning wheel a couple years ago - a beautiful blue merino wool.
Here’s the finished scrunchie:
I tried it on, and it works great!
Here’s the free knitting pattern for the scrunchie:

That is really cute, and the yarn is gorgeous! LOVE that color! I’ll have to try one of these.
Thank you all!
That pattern is SO quick and easy. I think I could make eight scrunchies a day if I wanted to.
A fun spring and summer project.

Hi Sandy,
Great looking scrunchy, and I too love the color you chose.
One question, will it hold really thick, strong hair? My DIL has hair so thick it’s ruined many vacuum cleaners.
Thanks!

That looks nice, Sandy.

I can definitely vouch that it will hold VERY thick hair. My hair is coarse and ridiculously thick. I have an Irish heritage, as well as some Cherokee Indian thrown in. :teehee:
Here’s a view of the back of my head:

You look adorable!
Thanks Dollyce!
Sandy, I commented on your blog but thought I would comment here as well.
What a fabulous project!!! I just love the color and the pattern!!!
Thanks Nathalie! It’s so easy, I feel guilty accepting compliments. :teehee: It was like knitting a tiny scarf and seaming it together.
Why feel guilty? Just because a project is easy doesn’t mean you don’t deserve kudos for a lovely job.
Spoken like a wise friend.

I love it Sandy! Thanks for posting the pattern! That’s a nice project to have when you feel like some real instant gratification - and it’s useful too!

Great job!!
Thank you both! I’ve only made two of these…the first one was for a care package for a little girl in another country. It was made with a red sparkly yarn. I think I’ll make some more with some novelty yarn again. So fun!
looks great, and not only are you a talented knitter but able to get a picture of it while on your head! Love it.
:roflhard:
You should have seen the photos that didn’t make the cut! :teehee:
:happydance:it looks great!
That srcunchie colour looks wonderful with your hair colour!!
