Green Mountain Knitting bags...Anyone?

Hey all,

Just wondering…Any of you have one of these bags? If so…which one? I was thinking about getting one…but not sure which. UGH! I’m looking for one that would fit 2 small projects. Socks, and (I’m going to be starting an afghan) which is done square by square. So socks (on dpns) and a square (with 14" straights) anda few balls of yarn, pattern, notions, etc.

But also something that would later fit say a sweater project.

I don’t want it to be too huge…but not to small  . I don’t want it to barely fit my 2 small projects cuz like I said maybe a sweater or something in the future. Hmm… :??

Here’s the link:

Any thoughts?? Reviews from those that have one??

TIA,

I’d never seen these before. But WOW - what trippy pieces of art they are, just in themselves! I particularly like that autumn-colored tapestry bag.

She puts so much thought and care into her creations… I think it would be a joy to own one, even if it were only big enough for my smaller projects.

In short: Go for it!

Ya, they are so nice!!! LOL!!! Well…I took the plunge last night and ordered one.

This is the one I ordered.

It’s a bit bigger than I had planned but then I thought I always want to take a magazine or knitting bk with me and never have room. So now I should have enough room for that and my 2 lil projects! YAY!

She puts up new bags late Weds. and Suns. I ck’d late yesterday and BOOM the bag I purchased was there. WOW!! Had to get it!!! So beautiful! :inlove:

She is so nice and helpful!! I emailed her telling her I was unsure which bag would work. She took pics of a few different ones w/ a hank, pattern, etc. So I can get an idea of what the bag would hold.

She is soooo talented!!! She handpicks and searches for each vintage/old fashioned buttons for her bags.

I can’t wait to recieve my new bag! :cheering:

The bag you chose is beautiful. That’s the one I would have picked.

Reminds me… I have a bag I made that I haul projects in. The pattern was from the Octagon Ladies’ Repository, and it’s called Traveling Bag. It has two sides, and was modeled on a ladies’ lingerie bag from ca. 1863. It’s great because it has a saddlebag way about it, I can carry it over my arm or on my shoulder. Yarn one side, needles and widgets on the other, and no tangles.

I’ll have to dig it out and take a photo.

Thx! I :inlove: with it! WOW, that sounds very nice! I love things like that…ya that would be interesting to see. Sounds very functional too!

I love the bags and I just go this one! Now I can’t wait to get it.

So pretty!!! They are so beautiful! Which one is that?? Vintage style, or Vintage Demi bag??

I can’t wait for mine either!!! :cheering: :inlove:

(anxiously awaiting my bag!)

okay someone needs to take a picture of the inside of those bags! I like the way they look but i wanna know what kinda innards i am dealing with before i buy!!

I know I couldn’t decide either cuz I didn’t know how big they were inside. I emailed the maker, Martha…telling her what I wanted to put inside, etc. and what bag she could suggest would be best. She then emailed me pics of the inside with a hank and some needles to give me a better idea…(which was really nice of her to do…being I’m sure she’s quite busy).

There are pics of the pockets she puts inside the bags on the main page of her site towards the bottom there is a link. All the bags have 3 or 4 pockets except the sm baguette (which I believe has none).

You can email her and let her know what you want to put inside and see what she suggests. Or ask her to send u a few pics of the inside. She is really nice!! :cheering:

Her bags are just beautiful!!! I like the ones both of you purchased. I’m not far from Vermont…I’ll have to check out where exactly she is located. Would be great to hand pick one! :XX:

Thx! She does take custom orders. You can pick the material and lining of the inside of the bag. LOL, I’m considering getting a second sm. one for hats, or socks. And use the one I bought for 2 sm. projects, magazine, etc. or a sweater/poncho project. Hmm…

LOL ut oh… I haven’t even recieved my first bag yet… Ok…need to chill  :roflhard:

Just had to post and let everyone know today I recieved my bag! All I can say is WOW!!! :inlove: So beautiful!!! I’m so happy to be an owner of one of these bags. I haven’t been able to take my eyes off of it since I got it. I love how it looks so old-fashioned!! So unique. :happydance:

she was on my Christmas list …but alas, no Green Mountain Bag for Jennifer - (though I’m not complaining - I got the Jordana Paige messenger bag).

knitbit… what size is your bag. I want to get another a little bigger than the one I have and I wasn’t sure if I should go with the med carpet or the large.

The width on mine is 21" from side seem to side seem. It’s 11" (not including the handles…which are 13" wide, by 4" tall). So total height is 15". It has a rectangular base with dimensions of 16" length (across…left to right) and a depth of 6". It has 3 inside pockets about 6" deep.

It’s pretty roomy. I have my 2 sm. projects inside. A pattern bk., magazine. I have all the notions I need in the 3 pockets and yet there’s still room. The ball of yarn I have in there is a 200 yd ball, and also a wound ball(for my socks). I could fit 2 more balls of the 200yd worsted inside but that’s packed to the top…(a bit crowdy…but does fit, bag still closes.)

If I wanted to do say a sweater and a sock I think that would fit pretty good…but with not too much extra room(you know like a front or back piece, sleeve). Just to give you an idea. Right now I have a sock project in there…and just started my 2nd project yesterday…(an afghan, done square by square). Btw…14" straights fit very comfortably. I had planned on using these for my afghan…but decided to go with my Denises.

Ck. the dimensions she has listed for each individual bag cuz they seem to vary by an 1" or so. Go to the create your own bag section and it gives you the basic sizes of all her bags.

But like I said where you go to buy…ck the sizes…some will be a bit smaller…some a lil bigger.

Hope this helps!

You’re very welcome! LOL, you’re looking for a bigger bag (carpet)…and I’m thinking of going for a 2nd bag, smaller (baguette, demi). Heehee! :rofling: But hey,…then we should be “ok”…ya think? Or maybe we might need a 3rd!!! Nahhhhh…Well…Hmm?? Never know.

Good Luck with #2!
