Granny square help - not flat

Hi all,
I’m just learning to crochet, and after a few small projects, decided to try the Inga bag off of Ravelry. However, my squares will not lie flat. They are all wavy! Aaaaaaargh! Is this normal for grannies? Do I just need to block them? Is it a tension problem, maybe?
Thanks for your input! :grphug:

Sounds to me like it maybe a tension problem. Also if you don’t mind me asking how many chains did you work in each corner? When I am doing a granny square I do 3dc, ch2, 3dc in each corner and I work 3dc in each space between corners. Some people ch1before and after each set of 3dcs. That will also make it lay flat. Next time you do one just try to relax and take your time but be careful… granny squares are known to be addicting! Have fun ! dc=double crochet
Hope this helps!

Thanks, melinda. The pattern calls for 2dc, ch3, 2dc in each corner and a dc in each dc from the previous row. So, by tension problem, do you mean that my tension is too tight, too loose, or inconsistent?

you are very welcome! By tension, in your case, I mean too tight.
