I have seen this term in yarn descriptions. It usually says something like “nice drape and good hand”. What does that mean?
It refers to how a fabric falls when you hold it in your hand. Heavy denim for instance has a very stiff had-it doesn’t drape fluidly-it’s stiff and hasn’t got a soft feel.
A lightweight t-shirt fabric (knit) has a nice drape-it falls in easy folds when you hold it in your hand and let the shirt hang. A nice drape (or hand) will do this.
Does that help?
Yes. Thanks.
