Hi!
I’m trying to knit the key sweater from petite knit. I’m quite confused about how I’m supposed to go from the back yoke to front part yoke.
I get the increases and turns (finally) but im not sure how to transfer from doing the back area to front area. I’ve circled the bit I don’t understand. When I follow this as I read it, it just means I continue increasing the back area and nothing is added at the front.
Thanks so much!!
There are increases along the rows at the markers on the back and sleeves. At the same time the short rows are adding rows to lift the back of the sweater. This is to make the sweater fit better with the back raised higher than the front. You won’t need to work short rows to raise the front.
The increases and short rows then extend into the front of the sweater before ending with working around the entire sweater. This is where the front sts which haven’t been worked are added into the yoke so that you again knit in the round without turns. That is the transition from short rows with turns to working in the round again. Simply continue around without a turn (resolving any double sts as you knit).
This tutorial emphasizes that no short rows are worked across the front.
