hello! i have a question about german short rows in the Celeste sweater pattern (attached screenshot). i knit rows 1 & 2 just fine, but was confused at row 3 and 4 (along with the 3 repeats) of GSR.
my interpretation of “Row 3 (RS): Knit to 20sts after the last turn, turn.” and “Row 4 (WS): Purl to 20 sts after the last turn, turn.” is that i’m not passing the beginning of the round again after Row 2 and all of the short rows will be done on one side of the stitch marker/BOR which would make one side unevenly long since the BOR marks the mid back of neck of the sweater. also, if i keep going back and forth on the same 20 stitches and knitting or purling into the “double stitches” that area would be quite lumpy.
I thought it could maybe be a translation issue, and the “20sts after the last turn” could be referencing the turn two rows prior (so each row i will pass the stitch marker/BOR). this was my alternate interpretation for rows 3 and 4:
starting in Row 3, i’m knitting 35 to BOR, then 35 on the other side of BOR, then an extra 20 after the “double” stitch before turning. in row 4, i would be purling back the 55, then purl the 35 after BOR, and purl another 20. total stitches knit/purl on each side of the stitch marker would be the original 35 + 20 + 20 + 20 +20 for the total of 4 repeats (115 total).
i’m just a bit confused because the back part of the sweater only has 101 stitches, so i’d be doing turns into the sleeves if i add a total of 80 stitches to each side of the stitch marker for the four repeats.
would love any insight on how these short rows should be done. thanks for your help in advance!
