Garter stitch collar

I am coming up on finishing my Dublin Cardigan which has a beautiful stand up collar. It’s all in garter stitch. What I am noticing is that the fabric is way floppier than the designer had planned. What can I do (this is top down, so after the fact) to stiffen the collar?

This is the only Dublin Cardigan I can find. I think it’s not your pattern since it doesn’t have a stand up collar.

Hello
Are you able to post a photo of the pattern pic, or post a link?
And a photo of your cardigan?

You’re correct - that isn’t the one - here are two photos (front and back).

My yarn is a alpaca merino mix and I’m using #11US for all but the cuffs which are using #9 US. IMG_2708 IMG_2707

I wonder if you could line the current collar with another garter stitch collar. If that would make the collar too thick maybe a stockinette lining? You could possibly add a fabric stiffener between the two.

Love the look of this cardigan, and the alpaca merino mix sounds yummy.

Good ideas - I am also thinking of sewing in a nice, soft lining for the collar only; maybe a felt fabric.

The fabric IS really luscious!

Thank you GrumpyGrandma, Creations and salmonmac!
