Frogging question

I want to frog back about 6 rows or so and redo my buttonholes with another method. The project is all garter stitch. How do I insert a lifeline in garter stitch? I have only seen how to do it in stockinette. Thanks!

If you stretch apart the rows of garter stitch, you will still see those little V’s and should be able to insert your needle or lifeline or whatever the same way that you would do it in stockinette.
