Hi, I’m knitting a King Cole pattern 5122. I’ve finished the back, both sleeves & am now knitting the front. Realised I’d done a few knit stitches instead of purl. Attempted to unknit them & this is the result. So, A what did I do wrong & B how do I correct the mess I’ve made please?
Do you have a crochet hook, smaller than your needle size?
The strands going across belong inside the stitch above. The stitch on the needle above these strands belongs to the row below.
With this side facing slip your stitches one at a time purl wise (needle point to needle point) until you reach the first strand across. Use your crochet hook to enter the stitch purl wise and grab the yarn strand, draw it through the stitch on the needle, let the stitch on the needle fall off the left needle and transfer the stitch from the crochet hook onto the needle.
Do the same with the others.
Then have a quick check that all your stitches are mounted correctly. The front leg should be on the right and the back leg on the left. This can be checked as you knit or you can check them all first before working the next row.
I think all that happened was you tinked into the stitch below the one you wanted.
If this makes no sense im sure someone else can word it differently to help you.
It worked like a dream!! Many, many thanks. Just love this group, so very helpful. xx
You’re very welcome. I’m glad it worked out.
Cute top, I think it’s this one
It’s really cute. I made the sleeveless version last year so thought I’d try the sleeved one. I find knitting with cotton -I’m using Emu this time to be kinda slippery which I didn’t when I used the King Cole cotton. But it’s ok just probably wouldn’t use it again.
